Choosing the right piano teacher

Finding a piano teacher who is the perfect fit is not always easy. Piano playing and piano teaching are two different skill sets, and the best teachers are good at both. A great piano teacher needs to know how to work well with people of all different backgrounds and personalities, and perhaps most importantly, needs to have a keen social sense of how to engage with the student. Far too often, piano lessons can become frustrating if the teacher is overly nit-picky or demanding. Personality counts - a great piano teacher must inspire the student using good emotional intelligence. Piano lessons are an experience, and it is absolutely critical that the student leaves with a positive feeling and a desire to sit down and play at home.

Testimonials

Mark is an amazing instructor

"Mark is an amazing instructor. Having moved to the area recently we tried a few different teachers. Mark understood almost immediately how to keep my son engaged while learning. He was willing to work with our schedule and is always on time. The most important thing is my son absolutely loves his lesson and will practice on his own because they are working on contemporary songs."
- Cristina A.

He's good at everything

"He's good at everything - sight reading, figuring songs out by ear, and helping me with vocals. There's not really anyone else I'd rather learn from!"
- Anurag A.
